After an outstanding display at the FIBA 3×3 African Championship, Nigeria’s 3×3 men’s Basketball team will not be participating at the FIBA 3×3 World Cup Qualifiers 2019 in San Juan, Puerto Rico after pulling out of the competition due to visa issues.
The D’Tigers 3×3 Team has been replaced by Canada who finished sixth in the last edition of the tournament and will be hoping to do well in this year’s championship billed for May 4 and 5 in Puerto Rico.
The Canadaians who have been drawn in Group A alongside France, Germany and Italy will have to finish in the top three to advance to the championship with the pool winners set to qualify for the semi-finals. The teams ranked second and third will face the third and second teams in Pool B respectively.
The winners of the semi-finals will qualify directly to the 2019 FIBA 3×3 World Cup, while the losers will play a final game for the last spot to the competition, which will take place in Amsterdam, Netherlands from June 17 to 22.
