Enyimba’s changes of reaching the final of the caf confederations cup was ended after again away from home to Raja Casablanca of Morocco who made history by making it into their first CAF Confederations cup final in the history of the club.
The Moroccans was full of confidence going into the returning leg at home and opened their account in the first half through Zakaria Hadraf’s effort.
Isiaka Oladuntoye’s own goal made things worst for the People’s Elephant of Aba though substitute Abdulrahman Bashir pulled one back for the visitors but that could not stop the Green Eagles of Morocco who won the match 3-1 on aggregate and will now square up against AS Vita.
The Aba based team started brightly by dominating a lot of possessions but found it very hard to create a clear cut chance throughout the first half.
The game continued with its slow pace in front of goal until some seconds left to the end of the first half before Raja Casablanca’s Hadraf broke the deadlock after capitalising on Enyimba’s defender Oladuntoye to beat goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai to make it 1-0.
Enyimba started brightly in second half, fighting for an equaliser but could not penetrate the relentless defensive displays by the Morrocans and could not take the change that fell to Stanley Dimgba.
With 2 minutes left to play, Usman Abdallah’s men conseded again through am own goal by Oladuntoye which ended the dream of the people’s elephant and sent the whole stadium to erupt.
With some additional minutes added to the 90, Enyimba’s second half substitute Abdulrahman Bashir reduced the deficit to 2-1 and ended the game with the consolation goal.
